Marla has been actively painting, sculpting and drawing her whole life.
She received her BA in Art from Oswega State University of New York.
She studied art in Europe at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
Living close to the Pacific Ocean and driving distance to the desert and mountains enables Marla to experience, photograph and paint what she enjoys most...wildlife. She hopes to portray their strength, beauty and freedom through her art. Part of her process is to observe, photograph and draw each animal, becoming intimately involved.
She likes to paint animals that fill the canvas. This allows her and others to get up close and personal without painting every detail. She concentrates on expressing the animals compelling presence, at times using only a palette knife, by working in strong contrasts of light and dark, using vivid colors.
Through the years she has received several accolades and awards for her work.
